Sandyford’s planning nightmare

The Sunday Business Post

A reservoir of problems is facing developers and landowners in Sandyford after a review found significant water, waste and traffic problems. Landowners in the Sandyford area of south Dublin, al ready reeling from the revelation in this newspaper last week that drainage problems have put a halt to planning permissions, face other significant problems before Dun Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council will allow them to redevelop sites there. Working papers drawn up by the council show it is still assessing the feasibility of traffic alleviation measures to facilitate future development, as well as the likely costs involved. The papers also show that the water supply in the area ‘‘is currently beyond normal design parameters with a consequent reduction in security of supply’’. The review covers the Sandyford industrial estate, the Stillorgan industrial estate, Central Park and the South County Business Park, which are collectively known as the Sandyford business estates area (SBEA).
