An Post objects to Arnotts’ €750m redevelopment plan

The Sunday Business Post

An Post has objected to the proposed redevelopment of Arnotts in north city centre Dublin. The company has lodged an objection with An Bord Pleanala over the decision by Dublin City Council to grant permission to retailer Arnotts for its €750 million Northern Quarter scheme. It follows the revelation that An Post is considering a retail scheme of its own in part of the General Post Office (GPO) site on O’Connell Street. Museums and galleries would also be included in the redevelopment plans. The rear of the GPO is linked to Henry Street, where rents for shops are among the highest in Europe. There are also links to Princes Street, which will have a number of new shops if the Arnotts plan goes ahead.
