AIB seeks planning for new Bankcentre project

The Sunday Business Post

AIB has just lodged a planning application with Dublin City Council seeking to transform its Bankcentre in Ballsbridge, Dublin 4. The bank wants to build an additional office block at the site. The application was lodged last week to develop about 1.7 acres in the centre, which would be accessed from Serpentine Avenue and Merrion Road. The proposed block will cover 18,600 square metres and would vary in height from five to eight storeys. This stepped form, according to the planning notice, would allow for landscaped roof terraces at the fifth and sixth level, and on top of the building. The new building, which will create office space for up to 1,000 staff if planning is granted, would be built at the back of the new complex in the area, which is currently used as a car park. It would provide the space needed to accommodate future demand as the business grows, according to AIB.
