Archiseek.com, the Irish based architecture website has been shortlisted for two Irish awards. The publisher, Paul Clerkin, has made the shortlist for the Irish Internet Association (IIA) Net Visionary Awards in the Social Contribution category. Archiseek.com has been placed on the shortlist for the Golden Spiders Awards in the Best Social Networking, Community & Not for profit Website category.
"It's great to be recognised", says Paul Clerkin, publisher and founder of the website. "Archiseek.com is about to celebrate ten years online, and to be nominated and shortlisted in two awards shows the quality of the online publication."
Archiseek.com is aimed at both the general public and the architecture community. "I want to encourage the average person to enter into the architectural debate, not to be afraid of architecture-speak and terminology. Your view is as valid as the head of any architecture body."
Archiseek.com started in November 1996 as Architectural Dublin. Since that it has expanded to cover buildings from all over Ireland and abroad. With an enthusiastic online community and dedicated readership, the website has over 2.4 million pageviews per month and boasts over 40,000 email subscribers.
The IIA Net Visionary Awards will take place on November 16th at a Gala Black Tie Ball in the Fitzpatrick Castle Hotel, Dublin. The awards have become the most respected Internet awards, honouring individuals for their contribution to the Irish Internet Industry.
The Golden Spiders will be awarded at a glittering awards dinner on 23rd November 2006, compered by comedian Jason Byrne at The Burlington Hotel, Dublin 4. Now in their tenth year, Archiseek.com has won twice previously (as Archeire.com), one in 1997 for Best Non-Commercial site; and one in 2000 for Best Online Community / Special Interest. It also made the shortlist in 1998.
