Key to the future in doorways of the past
"The key to the future of Dublin lies in the doorways of its past," according to leading historian Dr Gillian O'Brien. This, amongst many other issues, will be discussed at a conference sponsored by the Sherry FitzGerald Group and hosted by University College Dublin entitled "Bare Bones of a Fanlight: Georgian Dublin". The conference will be held in Newman House, 85-86 St Stephen's Green from Thursday 4 May to Saturday 6 May 2006. This multi-disciplinary conference will address aspects of Georgian Dublin including history, architecture, literature, town planning, medicine, trade, law, travel and religion. The conference will also include sessions on how the state, private institutions and individuals have behaved toward Georgian Dublin and it will consider how it has been and will be incorporated into a 21st century city.
