As a preview to National Heritage Week, a day (Saturday 3rd September 2005) of special events celebrating the rich and diverse heritage of Merrion Square and its surroundings. Explore and enjoy the townhouses, park, monuments, and streetscapes at the heart of the Georgian city in a relaxed and informal programme including:

10.15am Architectural Walking Tour of Merrion Square, Conor Lucey, History of Art Dept. UCD. Venue: Meet at Rutland Fountain opposite National Gallery of Ireland
12.15pm The Architectural Archives' New Home: A History of 45 Merrion Square'. A talk about the history of Number 45 Merrion Square by Simon Lincoln, Exhibitions and Outreach Officer Irish Architectural Archive. Venue: 45 Merrion Square
2.15pm Living and Working In Georgian Dublin; Exploring life in Merrion Square through every day 18th and 19th century objects. Kieran Burns, Curator Number Twenty Nine. Venue: 29 Fitzwilliam Street Lower.
3.15 Hidden Merrion Square, a walking tour of the park, streets and laneways with Pat Liddy, Historian and Broadcaster. Venue: Meet at Twenty Nine Fitzwilliam Street Lower.

Admission to these events is free but booking is required, as places are limited. Throughout the day visitors will be able to call into and gain a fresh perspective on some of the area's most well known buildings, including Irish Architectural Archive, 45 Merrion Square 10am -2pm St. Stephen's (Pepper Canister) Church, Mount Street Upper 10am -2pm. Number Twenty Nine Fitzwilliam Street Lower 10am-5pm.
