€75m facelift for Phibsboro shopping centre

The Irish Times

A €75 million redevelopment plan for the Phibsboro shopping centre has been given planning approval by Dublin City Council. Pascal Conroy's Albion Properties is gearing up to extend and revamp the 1967 shopping centre which has become dated in recent years. The shopping centre will triple in size with an additional 5,000 sq m (53,819 sq ft) of retail space being added to the existing 2,500 sq m. The significant mixed-use scheme will be built on a site of 1.23 acres with frontages onto Dalymount Park, Connaught Street, North Circular Road and Phibsboro Road. Most of the development will take place behind the existing centre and to one side on a former tramyard site. Designed by Project Architects, the new-style centre will involve the construction of a shopping mall and, at the rear of the site, a 400-seat stand overlooking adjoining Dalymount Park.
