€400m Clancy Barracks project aims to build 'urban village' of 1,000 homes

The Irish Independent

A hotel, bar and restaurant, medical centre, creche, and place of worship are included in the scheme and a new boardwalk is also being built along the south side of the Liffey. Florence Properties Ltd and Chanterwork Properties Ltd who bought the barracks from the State for €25m have applied for planning permission to transform the 5.6 hectares at Islandbridge. Buildings on the site date from the 18th, 19th, and 20th centuries. The developers claim that those proposed for removal do not satisfy the criteria for inclusion in the Record of Protected Structures but Dublin City Council has asked for a full assessment of the buildings.
