The old Silver Swan Hotel, so long a prominent landmark in the heart of Sligo city, is in line for a €30m redevelopment project. A new state-of-the-art hotel and apartment scheme is planned for the site as part of a major development which will also provide a new pedestrian bridge across the Garavogue estuary, stretching from Markievicz Road to Martin's Quay. Planning permission for the ambitious project was granted by Sligo Borough Council to Travac Developments Ltd this week.
