Galway Architect Simon J Kelly & Partners celebrated 50 years in the design business with a birthday party and exhibition in The Bold Gallery in Galway City on Thursday night. Tom Kenny of the world famous Kenny's Gallery, Galway, cast his thoughts back to 1954 when a young Simon Kelly from Westport set up his place in Eyre Square. He described the Galway of that time as being "grim, a bit dreary and not awake to architecture". However, Simon Kelly brought a new architectural dimension and perspective to many developments in the city, including schools, churches and industrial projects.
