The former Bailey Gibson and John Players factory sites on the South Circular Road in Dublin have been earmarked by the National Association of Building Co-Operatives (NABCO) for a major new city precinct. The prime Dublin sites were acquired quietly by NABCO some months ago and extensive behind-the-scenes discussions have been taking place since then with local interest groups, Dublin City Council planners and others. The two sites together extend to some 11 acres - thus providing scope for the biggest co-operative style development yet undertaken in this country. The Bailey Gibson site (now derelict) extends to some four acres, while the John Player land (vacated early this year) comprises a further seven acres.
