Desmond tells of 'fascination' with Georgian houses

The Irish Independent

Businessman Dermot Desmond has spoken of his "lifelong fascination" with Georgian buildings in a High Court case in which he claims to have incurred massive costs because of the way an application for the restoration of an 18th century Dublin property has been handled. The house at No 71 Merrion Square was built in the 1790s and was described by Mr Desmond as "truly unique" because so many of its original features were still intact. In an affidavit at an earlier hearing, Mr Desmond said the project had been dogged by difficulties in dealing with Dublin Corporation.
