Rising international star Heneghan Peng Architects has vowed never to work in the UK because the market is a "clique" dominated by homegrown talent. The 11-strong, Dublin-based practice, headed by husband-and-wife team Shih-Fu Peng and Róisín Heneghan, recently beat Daniel Libeskind to redevelop the Carlisle Pier in Dun Laoghaire harbour. This builds on their extraordinary success last year in winning the competition for the Grand Museum of Egypt in Cairo. But in an interview with BD, Peng dismissed the opportunity of working in the UK, despite a particular admiration for the work of Norman Foster.
