A decision to de-list and demolish Sligo's historic Markievicz House has been overturned by Sligo Borough Council. Council members voted by six votes to five to include the house, once home of WB Yeats' maternal grandfather, William Pollexfen, in its Record of Protected Structures. The nineteenth century building, which overlooks Sligo harbour, has been owned by the North-Western Health Board (NWHB) since 1970.
