This year, the Architectural Association of Ireland rewarded architects who 'densified' the existing built framework. It was surely an inspired idea to accommodate foreign jurors for the AAI Awards 2003 in an upmarket B&B in Sam Stephenson's former mews off Leeson Street. For it was while staying there that critic Deyan Sudjic couldn't help musing about the links between architecture and politics.
