The OPW has got the go-ahead from An Bord Pleanála to extend the National Library on Kildare Street, despite opposition from the Royal College of Physicians. The college, located at 6 Kildare Street, had appealed planning permission granted by Dublin City Council for the project - which involves the demolition of a 1920s extension and a 1960s single-storey flat-roof extension, and the construction of a new five-storey block to the rear of the original late 19th century building.
