Forty percent of the Carrickmines medieval site in South Dublin is to be lost to allow construction of the final stretch of the M50 motorway get under way. Transport Minister Seamus Brennan gave the delayed project the green light yesterday after months of controversy and protests - but admitted he had misgivings about his decision following weeks of talks.
