The earliest surviving house in the Belfast area has been conserved as a ruin. Work on Cranmore House, a 17th century property in the south of the city, was completed this week by the DoE Environment and Heritage Service at a cost in the region of Ł5,000. In 1690, when King William was marching from Belfast to the Boyne, he took shelter there from heavy rain.
