A new €2.5bn city quarter with a National Conference Centre, a landmark 100m high building and 25,000 new residents and workers in Dublin's docklands was given the green light yesterday. Work is expected to get underway immediately at the 81-acre site, which includes the controversial 52-acre prime Spencer Dock site owned by CIE, following approval by outgoing Environment Minister Noel Dempsey. The development includes two 11-storey developments and a 100m high building near the Point Depot, apartments, restaurants, shops and pubs.
