The Office of Public Works has established a Graduate Architect Training Scheme. The Training Scheme is designed for recent graduates and for those who will qualify this year, who have recognised qualification in architecture. The training scheme will have at least five places this year. The selection process will be short listing for competitive interview in July.
The training scheme will provide practical experience for those wishing to prepare for the R.I.A.I. / N.U.I Examination in Professional Practice or R.I.B.A Part 3 examination. Placement, in the O.P.W Architectural Services, will be for 24 months only, at a salary of €29,153.19 p.a. Placement will commence in September 2002
The Office of Public Works provides a wide range of architectural services and has a role in the conservation and protection of our architectural heritage. The OPW Architectural Services has approximately 100 architects, technicians, services engineers and quantity surveyors. It has a very wide range of projects, including major restoration and refurbishment projects for historic properties and cultural institutions, office accommodation for government departments and other agencies, Garda stations, prisons, social welfare offices etc.
