Hawkins House on Poolbeg Street in Dublin 2 - one of Dublin's most reviled high rise buildings - is to get a much-needed €31.7 million facelift and reconstruction. Planning permission for the project sought by the OPW has been granted by Dublin City Council and will involve recladding and refurbishing the 160,000 sq ft, 12-storey office building, which stands on the site of the former Theatre Royal, and partially removing the first floor over the north entrance and the north-facing storage room.
