The Carrigaholt Development Association has made contact with Minister for Heritage, Sile de Valera, in a bid to have their castle secured. The building overlooks the Shannon estuary and faces erosion on one side. Chairman of the local development body, Vincent Flynn said: "We don't want to discover some morning that it has toppled into the sea."
