There is something a little remote about Coleraine Borough Council's award-winning headquarters. The three-storey, 5,000-square-metre building, which will be officially opened on Tuesday, is situated on a large, four-and-a-half-acre riverside site at Cloonavin, meaning meadow by the river, on the Portstewart Road, outside the town. Between road and building is a large, grassy area, more suburban lawn than parkland, that creates a first impression of bland corporate administration rather than grand civic authority.
