Scrapyard gets go-ahead for country's tallest building
A formerDublin scrapyard, earmarked for decommissioned terrorist guns, will be transformed by a massive residential and commercial development - with a building taller than Liberty Hall - on a docklands site. The former Hammond Lane scrapyard site, close to Sir John Rogerson's Quay and opposite Spencer Dock, has been granted planning permission by Dublin Corporation. The complex is to feature the highest building in Ireland, rising to 19 storeys.
