Bleak Liffey House to be pleasantly replaced

The Irish Independent

Dublin Corporation will shortly proceed with the demolition of the visually bleak Liffey House office block on the corner of Tara St and Townsend St in Dublin city centre. The existing office block will be replaced with a new seven storey mixed use building with a gross floor area of around 4830 sq m. The move is in pursuance of the stated Corporation policy to set a high standard and visible example of good architectural design in the city. The proposed ground floor building line corresponds with that of adjoining buildings on Tara St and Townsend St. The development will include the widening of the existing pavement on Townsend St between Tara St and Luke St together with the installation of new hard landscaping, seating and trees. The Corporation believes that its project will set the standard for further developments along this street.
