Partnership the key to protecting heritage sites

The Irish Independent

Property developers were urged yesterday to carry out regular spot checks on sites to ensure that heritage sites are not disturbed. A new book of guidelines was published yesterday by the Heritage Council giving developers a step-by-step guide to conserving the country's archaeological sites as well as saving them time and money. The council's chief executive Michael Starrett said such sites could only be protected through greater communication and co-ordination between property developers and local authorities.
