Four members of An Taisce yesterday staged a sit-in at a Presbyterian church on Adelaide Road in Dublin to stop its demolition. Led by Ian Lumley, the heritage officer of the republic's national trust, and Tony Lowes, a leading environmentalist, the protesters temporarily halted the destruction of the church. Gardai who visited the scene said the group appeared to be trespassing but that it was a civil matter.
