Well tended heritage has rewards
The Minister for Arts, Heritage, Gaeltacht and the Islands, Sile de Valera, announced last week that £100 million would be allocated over the next five years towards the conservation of state-owned monuments and heritage sites. This financial allocation, which will be made as part of the National Development Plan, is a very timely recognition by government of the need to maintain, repair and conserve the actual fabric of the man-made heritage.
