Dublin County Council's Central Area committee last night condemned the 'high-handed' behaviour of the city manager in granting planning permission to a £126m development in the Smithfield area. An emergency motion agreed last night said the manager should have addressed the serious concerns expressed by the local community and councillors at the Central Area Committee and the HARP monitoring committee. He also failed to await the outcome of the Urban Height and Density study which is due to report shortly.
