'We all have a little bit of ownership of Dublin and responsibility for Dublin,' the financier Dermot Desmond told an An Bord Pleanala oral hearing into the proposed 1.2 billion Spencer Dock development. Desmond is one of eight parties appealing against Dublin Corporation's decision and is ranged alongside such unlikely bedfellows as the Green party and residents' associations. His concern is that the project will "blight the docklands to the detriment of Dublin and its people".
