Trinity plans £70 million complex

The Sunday Business Post

Trinity College is to seek planning permission this month for a new £70 million semi-underground complex in the north-east corner of the campus which will house a sports centre and a computer science building. Trinity will not reveal the costs of the project but students' union president, David Tighe, said the cost of the new building will be met by funding of £30 million from the college, with the remaining £40 million generated by commercial rental of the former An Post site on Pearse Street. About £20 million is allocated to the construction of the sports centre within the new complex. He said the board of the university approved the college to seek planning permission for the project.
