High-rise towers falling foul of planners

The Irish Independent

The George's Quay ruling is yet another high rise plan felled by Bord Pleanala - and the third since the start of July. In another significant ruling last July a multi-million pound Zoe Developments high rise plan for an old gasometer site off Barrow Street in Dublin was rejected and one of the grounds was that it was too high. The planning board decided it was not satisfied that levels of soil and water contamination at the site would not pose an unacceptable risk to human health and safety and the environment.
