Dream of skyscraper city brought to earth
Residents around Dublin's docklands still have some waiting to do to see if their neighbourhood is to undergo a £1bn high-risefacelift. While a state-of-the-art National Conference Centre costing £120m and a string of skyscrapers, one as high as 22 storeys would change the face of the Dublin, it would provide employment in the process. Yesterday's decision by Dublin Corporation appears to have pleased neither the developers nor their opponents, however, and is certain to be nappealed to An Bord Pleanala.
