New midlands town could solve crisis

The Irish Independent

The development of a completely new town in the Midlands could prove part of the solution to Ireland's serious infrastructural and regional development challenges, according to Brendan Sheridan, the new president of the Society of Chartered Surveyors.

"We shouldn't just think about upgrading existing towns to regional centres as sometimes such a mix can compound problems of traffic etc,'' he said in an interview with Midweek Property. Instead, Mr Sheridan suggests, an entirely new town would have have the advantages of providing a more efficient infrastructure to cater for the demands of modern lifestyles and work practices.
