Skyscraper foes query rail safety

The Irish Independent

A community group opposed to the ''glass'' skyscraper plan for George's Quay on Dublin's south docks yesterday demanded reassurances about the safety of the nearby DART line. In a submission to Bord Pleanala the South East Network said no studies had been made on the structural integrity of the DART track and how it would interact with the proposed development. The statement referred to concerns raised by CIE in an appeal over a different development at the gasometer site in Barrow Street. The group said an appeal was lodged by CIE due to the possibility of lack of structural integrity in the retaining walls along the DART.
