Mercer Street, Dublin

Named after the founder of the hospital for sick and the poor erected through the will of Mary Mercer and opened in 1734. This was sited on the site of the ancient St Stephen’s Church and churchyard as well as the even older Leper hospital. Previous to this its had been known as Love Lane but was renamed due to bad repute.
