Designed in a similar style to other stations on this line notably Dundalk and Drogheda, Malahide Station is a wonderful small building in polychromic brick and with an excellent ironwork canopy. The ironwork in the canopy contains the monogram of the Great Northern Railway who operated this route prior to nationalisation of the railways.
Unlike Dundalk, the station platforms are at the same level as the ticket offices and the station is very easy to navigate, with the main entrance opening into the ticket hall which in turn opens out onto the platform via a wide doorway set into a wooden glazed partition.
The main station buildings are sited on one side of what is the main Dublin-Belfast line, with a waiting room accessed by pedestrian bridge on the opposite site. The station is very well maintained.
