Demolished in 2001, Downes Meehan and Robson headquarters for the Irish Life Assurance Company (later used by the Blood Transfusion Board) was one of the earliest office development outside of the city centre, acting as a trendsetter for the Ballsbridge area. Four later Georgian office blocks were demolished to allow its construction. The four story block on pilotis was sited around an attractive courtyard. As office accommodation grew, the space underneath the block was filled in with extra space.
