Architecture of Portadown, Armagh

Portadown was originally Planted by the Obins family in the 17th Century as a centre for grain and linen. This development was furthered by the Montagues, Dukes of Manchester, and Portadown has long been an important town in Northern Ireland. In recent times, the town has been affected by the Northern Ireland conflict – much of the town centre has been redeveloped following bomb damage.
